(Synopsis) Cain Bonham is as big and bad as they come. After serving in the Marines, he’s returned home to Wyoming and now works as head of security at the exclusive sex club, The Wicked Horse. His job is to protect not only the patrons, but to zealously guard the secret existence of the club itself.

Sloane Preston is all about discovering secrets. As an undercover reporter, she’s determined to reveal the truth behind the facade of The Wicked Horse and expose it for all the world to see. She just didn’t count on her pathway into the club coming at the hands of one gorgeously scarred and bad ass bouncer who manages to easily possess her body and soul.

While Cain’s not looking for anyone to catch his eye, Sloane did it all the same, and he’s not bemoaning the fact that she’s as wickedly kinky as he is. As both get caught up in the sinful fantasies that only The Wicked Horse can create, secrets and loyalties will be tested and hearts will risk being broken.

From the very beginning of Wicked Lust, I was feeling a bit conflicted. We met Cain in Wicked Fall (The Wicked Horse #1), and I had the feeling that he was an emotionally conflicted, but good-to-the-core guy. He's the chief of security and an all around pretty kinky dude. And when it's revealed that the woman who has caught his eye is an undercover reporter, I'll admit it - my hackles were raised.

I'm not at all a fan of cheaters and liars, and from the very beginning we see that Sloan is most definitely a liar. She's an undercover reporter looking for proof of existence of the Silo and of the governor's involvement in it - either directly or indirectly. She's willing to do what she needs to in order to get the scoop. WHATEVER she needs to.

I certainly don't bemoan her desire to climb Cain like a tree. Sloan has always been curious about kink, and Cain is hot and willing to show her his world. What girl wouldn't take him up on that offer? I just don't like her motives, is all. While she's learning all about Cain and he's sharing things with her that he hasn't shared with a woman in a long time, she's digging for dirt and working her angles. And it made me mad.

Now, to give Sloan some credit, she didn't seem thrilled about her assignment after spending just one night with Cain. And the more time she spent with him, and the more he taught her, the more she tried to dump the story. And, the end was pretty awesome. But, for me, it was still pretty frustrating.

It was mostly frustrating because I really loved Cain. He's a complicated guy. He very rigid and tough on the outside, but his life's experiences have formed who he is, and he has emotions and can love and be hurt just like everyone else. He's also wildly adventurous, and I don't mean he likes rock climbing. Wicked Lust is an incredibly hot book. It's the hottest one by Sawyer Bennett that I've ever read. It was pretty awesome.

While we're in the middle of Sloan's and Cain's story, we're continuing to get to know a whole host of other characters that will be featured in future books, and I'm loving the glimpses we are getting of them. I can't wait to continue reading.
