AUDIOBOOK REVIEW: Beneath These Lies (Beneath #5)

Beneath These Lies (Beneath #5), by Meghan March
Publish Date:
March 15, 2016
Publisher: self-published
Format: audiobook, purchased
Genre: adult contemporary romance
To Buy: Amazon | Barnes & Noble

Rating: 5 STARS

(Synopsis) Look, but don’t touch…she might as well wear a neon sign that says it. It just makes me want her more.

She might be above me in every way, but I still want her under me.

I’ve got no business touching her rich-girl skin, but that won’t stop me from stealing a taste. Because rules were meant to be broken—especially when the prize is so fine.

In a world where nothing is as it seems, what's buried beneath these lies?

Meghan March's Beneath series is getting ready to close in a few weeks with the seventh and final book. It's a good excuse for me to get all caught up so that I can read it as soon as it comes out. Because, the main character in that last book played a pivotal role in Beneath These Lies, and I now want this person to get that elusive HEA so badly, I can taste it.

But, back to the present. I've thoroughly enjoyed every book in Meghan March's Beneath series. They all take place in New Orleans, and I can honestly say, it's one of my favorite cities in which to set a book. Nevermind that I've never been there before - it seems like such a rich and vibrant place, and that truly comes to life in the Beneath series.

The setting is only one small reason why I love these books so much. The main reason is, of course, the characters. Meghan writes the alphaest of males. All her heroes have been strong, capable, protective, and flawed in some important way or another. And lucky us - in Beneath These Lies, we get TWO of them. On one hand you have police detective Rhett Hennessey - a truly good man whose position on the force is tainted somewhat due to the actions of his deceased brother. And on the other hand you have Rix - the leader of the most powerful NOLA gang, a drug dealer and an all around shady character. You'd think Valentina's choice would be easy.

Fortunately for Rix, Valentina needs him in order to secure the safety of someone she's close to. That means, he can spend time with her, talk with her, and get close to her, all in the name of giving "updates." Valentina, being the wonderfully strong heroine that she is, doesn't make it easy on him. I mean, he IS a notorious gang-banger, after all.

The love triangle (that really isn't much of a triangle at all, since it was obvious - at least to me - who Valentina would end up with from square one), the sticky situation in which Valentina's friend finds herself, and the big twist that I knew was coming, but still loved when it happened all make for an incredible read. Beneath These Lies was dangerous and suspenseful and super sexy.

If I'm going to be honest, there's one more reason why I've been loving the Beneath series. Well, two more reasons, really - Andy Arndt and Sebastian York. The power couple of romance books has narrated every book in this series, and like all the other books they've read together, their performance is superb. I've done every book in this series in audio format specifically because of the narrators, and I will finish out the series the same way. They are just so good together as they read their dual POV parts and make the characters come to life.

(Synopsis) From USA Today bestselling author Meghan March comes the final sexy standalone set in the Beneath world of New Orleans.

I used to believe there were lines in life you don't cross.

Don't lie. Don't cheat. Don't steal.

Until I learned people don't always practice what they preach.

I turned in my badge and gun and walked away from everything.

Then I got the call no one wants, and I’m back in New Orleans.

What I don't expect is for her to be here too.

Another line you don’t cross?

Don't touch your best friend’s little sister.

She's always been off-limits.

Too bad I don't follow the rules anymore.

BOG TOUR REVIEW: Bad Judgment

Steamy, sexy, lawyerly goodness - BAD JUDGMENT by Meghan March was all those things and more. Check out my review, then go read it for yourself!

Bad Judgment, by Meghan March

(Synopsis) He’s so arrogant.

She’s so self-righteous.

I can’t stand him.

I want her.

He’s a distraction I don’t need.

She’ll say yes eventually because I’m not giving up.

Justine Porter is stuck between a rock and a stripper pole. She lost her law school scholarship, which means she has two choices to keep her life on track: strip for her tuition or tutor the most distractingly sexy guy in her class—the one she’s been turning down for two years straight. It should be an easy choice, but tutoring Ryker Grant could derail her plans to graduate with honors faster than two-for-one night at the Déjà Vu. Then again, topless has never really been her color.

She could take the easy road, just this once . . . but the deal has enough loopholes to trip anyone up.

Who knew they taught bad judgment in law school?

The year 2016 marks the time when I became a Meghan March fangirl. Bad Judgment is my 11th book by her this year and the first standalone. Although, I'm kinda wishing it was part of a series. Because I don't think I got nearly enough of Ryker Grant.

Justine is a hard-core law student. She has to be in order to keep her full-ride scholarship because without it, she can't go to school. She can't afford to be distracted by men, even if one man in particular is the hottest thing on two legs. It's why she's turned him down every time he's asked her out. For two whole years. But, Ryker's dry spell is finally over. Because Justine's scholarship has been yanked, and tutoring Ryker is the only way she can make enough to stay in school and graduate.

Justine is the kind of female character that really does it for me. She's confident and driven and smart and able to say no to a hot guy that's a sure thing. She's motivated by the right things - she wants to make herself better and help people in the process. And, let's face it. She's totally right about Ryker. If she had allowed herself to get involved with him, he WOULD have been a huge distraction.

She also knows to accept help when it's offered, even if it puts her in regular close contact with the guy who is starting to consume her thoughts. And, when things get too complicated and she feels her morals slipping away, she knows when to change the game to make things right again. It's that last one that really impressed me - it's not something you see often in books, so it was so awesome to see it here.

Ryker is a guy in more than one tough spot. He's feeling pressure from his dad, he doesn't know what to do with the rest of his life, and the girl he can't stop thinking about won't give him a shot. Ryker was beyond charming. He was so adorable and endearing, and I promise you will be cheering for him from the very first time you meet him.

Meghan March's typical steamy heat is definitely present in Bad Judgment. When Justine and Ryker take their anger and frustration out on one another, it manifests into some crazy hot encounters. But, it was never hate screwing - no, the reader could tell that, at least for Ryker, he's interested in way more than a one-night stand, and he uses all his talents to woo Justine. And, he's a good wooer.

Bad Judgment went too fast for me. Could be because I couldn't put it down once I stopped. It was funny at times, definitely sexy and incredibly fulfilling once I reached the end. I loved every minute.

(Synopsis) Greer Karas has been mine since the first day I saw her.

I walked away because she deserved better than I could offer, but I always planned to come back and stake my claim when the time was right.

But true to form, Greer wasn't willing to wait. She threw down a challenge, and I’m meeting her head-on.

I’m not walking away this time because sometimes you have to fight dirty for love.

When we last saw Greer and Cav, a bomb had just been dropped on their attempts at an idyllic life and blew it to smithereens. Of course, that bomb's name was Creighton Karas.

I thought Dirty Love was a great follow up to Dirty Girl. If you thought all the cats were out of the bag in the first book, you would be very wrong. Dirty Girl only scratched the surface of everything that's been going on behind the scenes of Greer, Creighton and Cav's entire lives.

I loved that this wasn't just about getting Greer and Cav back together. When you have blood mob ties, nothing is ever going to be cut and dried. Of course, resolving the situation created at the end of Dirty Girl IS priority number one at the beginning of Dirty Love, and Cav approaches the situation with nothing less than full-on determination.

Although I had some serious problems with some of Cav's methods, I did totally love his motivation. He's in love with Greer, and after leaving her years before without a word, he absolutely will not ever do that again. He's put her first in his life, above all else, and that is so sexy. In the face of that kind of determination and love, what sort of girl could turn him away?

She's mine, and I'll fight heaven and hell to keep her. The sins of the past may not stay buried where they belong, but I refuse to let them rule our future.

Dirty Love takes you all over the place - from Belize to New York to Kentucky (yes, we spend some more time in Holly's grandmother's house) to Los Angeles, Greer and Cav are trying to find their place in the world and how they play the hand they've been dealt and still be happy. It's certainly not always easy, but they have friends and family that help them along the way.

And, it appears they have each other. That too isn't always easy, what with the lying and the secrets and the kidnapping (just read the book). But their story made for a hell of a good and sexy story.

Right now, I just want Cav. I might still want to kill him later, but not right this moment.

I suck his finger into my mouth, laving it with my tongue and lips and dragging lightly down it with my teeth.

As we hurtle down the runway, I make promises to him with my eyes. Take the restraints off or don’t; I’m still going to want you.

Cav reaches out with his other hand and cups my breast, covered only by the soft material of my thin T-shirt. Chill bumps prickle along my skin when his fingers close around my nipple and twist.

A moan escapes my lips, and I press into his touch. We say nothing until the captain announces that we’ve reached our cruising altitude.

Cav removes his seat belt and mine before hauling me back onto his lap.

“Jesus Christ, woman. Feel what you did to me.”

He presses his hips up and against me, and I wiggle my ass against his cock’s solid length.

“I want it.”

“Good, because I’m going to lower you onto your knees, unzip my pants, and help you take it down your throat. And then I’m going to lift you up on my lap and slide your pussy down my cock until you’re full of me.”

His dirty talk kills me every time.

“What are you waiting for?” I ask, my tone taking on a seductive depth.

“Need to taste you again first.”

His lips crush to mine, and his tongue dives inside without waiting for invitation. Cav kisses like he does everything else—throwing his whole self into it. His hand is buried in my hair, tilting my head the way he likes. I moan into his mouth, loving the urgency radiating from him.

Finally, he pulls my head back, his eyes greener than before. “On your knees, baby girl.”

I nod as he helps me to the floor, the plush carpeting cushioning my position. Cav unzips his jeans and fists his cock as he pulls it out. As I lean forward, my hair falls around my face, but with my bound hands, I’m helpless to pull it back.

Cav wraps one hand around the tangled strands and clenches it behind my head. I’m at his mercy, and yet I’ve never felt more powerful. The need in his eyes burns into me, and I want to give as much as I want to take.

(Synopsis) From USA Today bestselling author Meghan March comes a sexy new spin-off duet from The Dirty Billionaire Trilogy. Are you ready to get dirty again?

Desperately seeking rich, famous, single guy with a giant cock to make my lying, cheating, should’ve-been-born-dickless ex-boyfriend realize what he’s just lost.

Oh, and I give great head. Just sayin’.

No man in his right mind would answer that ad.

Except thousands did.

My name is Greer Karas, and I should never be allowed near another bottle of booze again. Because when I drink, my friend and I do stupid things. Like take a page out of my older brother Creighton’s playbook and post something completely asinine on the Internet. Waking up with a giant hangover to find my humiliating personal ad has gone viral is not my finest moment.

Cue my look of shock when one of Hollywood’s hottest new bad boys, Cavanaugh Westman, comes knocking at my door and drops his pants to prove that he does indeed have a giant cock.

What he doesn’t have is an explanation for why he disappeared from my life without a word three years ago, only to show up on the big screen two years later, killing bad guys in action flicks.

And now he wants me again.

What the hell do I do now?

The first time I experienced anything written by Meghan March was when I spent time in her Dirty Billionaire world and fell in love with Creighton and Holly Karas. Since that time, I've read the first two books in her Beneath series (and am loving them!), but when I found out she was going back to the Dirty Billionaire world to write a story about Creighton's half-sister, Greer, I was all,

Greer Karas' problems might not be ones that I recognize in my very typical middle-class world, but that doesn't mean they aren't real. Being a member of a famous, filthy rich family means that her life is constantly under a microscope. Freedom to make choices and succeed or fail because of them is nonexistent when her brother's company's stock prices can be affected by the most seemingly harmless thing.

Can you even imagine what that's like? Greer can't have a girls night out where she gets plastered and goes home with a hot guy for a one-night stand. She can't even get trashed in the comfort of her own home with her bestie and post something ridiculous online without affecting everyone around her. She knows about THAT ONE firsthand.

After being cheated on, Greer's "one that got away" has been haunting her even more than usual. It doesn't help that Cav Westman is now a big time movie star and on billboards and in magazines and on TV interview shows. Greer can't escape the "what ifs." And, after basically calling him out on social media one drunken night, her new "what if" question to be answered is, "What if Cavanaugh Westman shows up outside my door ready to pick up where we left off?"

The Dirty Girl duet is a fantastic second chance love story, and you know how much I love those. Greer is trying to guard her heart as best she can, since Cav left so easily without so much as a goodbye once before. He can just as easily do it again. But, my goodness - how can she not fall back in love with this man? He's gorgeous and confident and sweet and sexy. And the sexual tension that Meghan March has so expertly woven into their story is off the charts.

But, Cav is very obviously holding something back. Greer never has gotten the full reason as to why he left her years ago without so much as a text. And, every time she asks, he hedges. It made me mad on Greer's behalf. As much as I loved Cav and thought that he and Greer deserved to find their happy, I was pissed at him for most of the book too. He should know by now that secrets are never, ever a good thing, and if he's as dedicated to getting Greer back as he seems to be during his introspective periods, he needed to come clean with her.

If you're familiar with Meghan March's Dirty Billionaire series, you know that the endings of each part of the story are killer. Dirty Girl was no different. You'll get to the end, and go...

But, never fear! Dirty Love, which is the conclusion to Greer and Cav's story, comes out on May 31, so you'll only have to wait for two short weeks. I, for one, can't wait to see what happens next.

Greer

No. Fucking. Way.

Can you photoshop real life? Because that’s the only way I can possibly be seeing through my peephole what I’m seeing right now.

Cavanaugh Westman. In the flesh. Outside my door.

The knock stopped me mid-shuffle on the way to my coffeemaker. So that makes me an uncaffeinated, makeup-less, messy-bunned, legging-wearing couch surfer who hasn’t showered in the two days I’ve spent holed up in my apartment.

He can’t see me like this.

I’ve had so many fantasies of how it will go when I finally came face-to-face with Cav again. I’ll be wearing something sexy, yet classy. Perfect hair, makeup, eyebrows. I’ll adopt a casually disinterested mien. He’ll be devastated when he realizes what he missed out on by standing me up that night and disappearing without a word.

There’s no way in hell I’m answering that door. Cav Westman can sit out in my hallway all day. Not opening it.

But Cav reads my mind, the bastard.

“Open the door, baby girl. Your message came through loud and clear with that ad.”

A barely audible gasp escapes my lungs.

“That’s right, I know you’re standing there. So, open the door, Greer.”

His deep, gravelly voice stirs memories I thought I wiped out of my brain. Apparently not.

I rush to the couch to grab my phone. I need to text Banner. Need to freak out with her and schedule an emergency spa day so I can be all the things I need to be before facing him again.

My thoughts come to a screeching halt. I do not need to impress Cav Westman. He’s nothing to me. And I can prove it right now by opening the door. He’ll see exactly how much I don’t care about his opinion.

Before I can change my mind, or look down at my shirt to make sure I’m not sporting any stains from yesterday’s coffee, I reach for the dead bolts and unlock them before I twist the doorknob and tug.

As soon as the door is open, I know I’ve made a terrible mistake.

Through the peephole, he was marginally distorted. On the billboards and movie posters plastered to the sides of buses in the city, he looked like a total stranger. But Cav in the flesh?

Devastating.

I lose my grip on the door and it swings open.

How does he not look older? No new lines bracket his mouth or crease the corners of his eyes. Instead, a new scar curves along his jaw, giving him a sexier, more dangerous look. His shoulders are impossibly broader, making his hips seem even narrower.

His hazel eyes flash as he takes me in—at least they haven’t changed. Today they’re more tawny gold than gray or green. Guessing what color they would be was part of the game I played with myself before. His dark brown hair is sexy and disheveled, longer than the buzz cut he had before, but everything else is the same. Worn jeans, a plain T-shirt, and scuffed boots. Strong, bold features that many a man would find impossible to carry off, but are the reason millions of women would line up to have Cavanaugh Westman’s babies.

“What are you doing here?” I whisper, reminding myself that I no longer have some naive fantasy of being the one for Cav.

His gaze returns to my face, and I know his inspection of me can’t be nearly as flattering as mine of him.

I’m waiting for him to say something . . . anything. Like an apology or an explanation for disappearing three years ago, but instead I get something completely different.

His hands drop to the button of his jeans. “Based on your ad, the inspection isn’t quite complete.”

If my jaw could drop to the floor like a cartoon character’s, it would.

Oh. My. God. I never saw what he was packing before, only a grazing handful the one night I finally got bold, but he put me off, promising me a night that never happened.

I stand like a slack-jawed moron and force my gaze to his face.

“What are you doing?”

His wicked grin—one he uses so rarely, even in the movies of his I’ll never admit I’ve seen—wipes away the three years between our past and present.

The hiss of the zipper comes next.

I keep my gaze on his face as his eyes dare me. To look or to stop him, I’m not sure which.

“Apparently you’ve changed your requirements for wooing, baby girl.”

The endearment on his lips brings back another wave of memories, but the flex of his bicep against the sleeve of his T-shirt steals my attention.

Oh. My. God.

He’s gripping his cock, stroking it, isn’t he? All I have to do is look down, and I’ll have more than one question answered.

“You know you wanna look.”

The dare is there again. And he’s right. I want to look. So I do.

Sweet Jesus.

Oh. My. Hell.

Well, let’s just say Cav knocked that requirement out of the park. The sight of his long, thick cock in his big, capable hand sends heat rushing south through my body, pooling between my thighs. My nipples, sans bra, strain against the material of my shirt. Cav’s gaze drops as well—to my chest.

The room pulses with a desperate intensity. Hanging between us is the night we never had. The one he walked away from.

I have two choices. Take what I want, what I asked for, or hold on to the rejection he dealt me three years ago.

My brain short-circuits on one thought—life is short, and you never know if you’ll get a second chance.

So I step forward, wrap one hand around his neck and the other around his cock, and kiss him for everything I’m worth.

(Synopsis) He loves me, and he doesn’t even know my real name.

The limelight that follows him could expose everything I’m hiding. But even knowing the risks, I can’t force myself to stay away.

I’m going to break his heart, but mine will shatter right along with it.

Will we lose it all when I reveal what’s beneath this mask?

I blew through Beneath This Mask in just a few days. To be fair, I spent 14 hours in my car traveling to and home from ALAMW16 in Boston, so it was plenty of time to start and finish this audiobook. When I originally purchased it, I chose it because I just got done reading Meghan March's Dirty Billionaire series, and really loved it. I was looking for more books by her and discovered that Beneath This Mask could be purchased for Kindle and audio for only $7 total. SOLD.

Charlie Stone was raised in a life of privilege. But, after her father went to jail and their family was ruined, she runs to escape the stigma and possible indictment herself. A year later, she's in New Orleans and has completely changed her appearance. She was supposed to go relatively unnoticed and fly under the radar - until she met Simon. He's the son of a former politician and considering running for office himself. He's always in the public eye, so he exactly what Charlie should avoid. Easier said than done.

In the wake of the Bernie Madoff ponzi scandal that came to light in late 2008 and which bilked thousands of hardworking Americans of billions of dollars, it was interesting seeing this sort of thing as the foundation for a book. We've all felt the pity for the victims of the scheme who lost their life savings, but I never thought to think about Madoff's family and how they fared.

Charlotte - or, Charlie as she has remade herself - is the only child of a man convicted of this type of crime. Although she's had a silver spoon in her mouth her whole life, she's a tough chick. She did a brilliant job of hiding - paying for things with cash, getting lots of tattoos, dying her hair. But, I really felt for her. She seemed so alone. She was never close to her family even when they were together. And, now she purposely keeps herself apart from others so she isn't found out. It's a lonely life, and that shows.

Simon is immediately drawn to her, and despite her seeming to want to be with him, he can't understand why she continually pulls away. I get it - Charlie threw off serious mixed signals. Honestly, for a short while there, the constant push and pull got tiresome. I wanted Charlie to make up her mind, and that didn't happen quite fast enough for me.

Despite some pacing issues in the middle and the instalove on Simon's part, I still really enjoyed this book. I liked the side characters - Con, especially. I can't wait to get his story.

While the middle felt a bit sluggish, the ending moved at lightning speed. So much was going on to our MCs, it made up a bit for the slower pacing earlier.

About the Audio Version
Beneath This Mask is told in dual POV, so for the audio version, there are two narrators - Andi Arndt and Holter Graham. Both of them were new to me, and I found I really enjoyed their performances. And Arndt particularly did a great job voicing both Charlie and Simon during her chapters. And, they both conveyed the heavy emotions that were felt at times during this book. I see that Holter Graham narrates a lot of Patricia Briggs books - me thinks I'm going to have to get one of those.

RELEASE WEEK REVIEW: Dirty Together (Dirty Billionaire #3)

Dirty Together (Dirty Billionaire #3), by Meghan March

Format: e-ARC, provided by RockStar PR
Genre: adult contemporary romance

(Synopsis) My wife.

I love saying those words.

She’s mine, and if she thinks I’m going to let her run without tracking her down and bringing her back to where she belongs—with me—then she’s about to be introduced to a new reality.

Because I’ll fight dirty to give her the happily ever after she deserves.

What a fantastically perfect ending to an awesome series. Dirty Together had the potential to be super angsty and to keep us waiting around until the very last word for Holly and Creighton's HEA, but thankfully, Meghan March doesn't subject us to that sort of bookish torture. Dirty Together is all Creighton in his alpha male glory and he doesn't disappoint even for a second.

When we last saw Holly and Crey, things weren't looking good for them - AGAIN. Holly has escaped to her podunk Kentucky hometown to try and get her head on straight and figure out which end is up when it comes to both her career and her marriage. I liked the change in scenery from the other two books, and seeing where Holly grew up and the people she grew up with was interesting and fun.

Holly realizes not too long after arriving that she and Crey need to compromise if their marriage is going to work. But she has learned the hard way that the word "compromise" usually just gets you screwed over in the end, so she's not too good at it. Luckily, Crey has also realized that, if you want something badly enough, compromise is necessary, and he's willing to teach Holly how it works.

Both Creighton and Holly bend a little in Dirty Together in order to meet in the middle. Crey makes the first move when he joins her in Kentucky. No matter what is happening in their relationship, the one thing you can always count on is the sizzling heat between these two, and it's most definitely there. Whether they're getting it on in a tricked out tour bus, on Creighton's granite countertops or on Holly's grandmother's rickety kitchen table, you can bet that the one constant is astronomical chemistry.

Just when you think Holly and Creighton have figured out their new normal, a huge bomb is dropped on them, and there is some serious potential for things to fall apart. It gives Holly and Crey a real opportunity to test their love.

Over the course of the three parts of this pretty awesome love story, Holly and Creighton both grow and mature so much. They learn so much about love and sacrifice and the things that are really important in life. That is what made this series so fantastic.

BLOG TOUR REVIEW: Dirty Pleasures (The Dirty Billionaire Trilogy #2)

GAH! This series! I'm loving it so much! Dirty Pleasures only built upon the foundation that was laid in book 1, Dirty Billionaire. I needed more Creighton and Holly, and boy did Meghan March deliver. Read on for my review and learn more about this awesome series.

(Synopsis) I did it. I married a billionaire.

My reasons are my own, but the last thing I expected was to feel owned.

I may have taken vows, but I’m still determined to be me.

Now his rules are taking over my world, but I’m not the kind of girl to just obey.

There’s only one problem: I might actually be falling for him…

I have no idea how this marriage is going to go, but holding onto a piece of myself while succumbing to his dirty pleasures is shaping up to be the ride of a lifetime.

While Dirty Billionaire might've been Holly's story, Dirty Pleasures is definitely Creighton's. In the 140 or so pages of this book, Creighton comes to an awareness about himself that rocks him to his core and changes his world. But, his learning curve is great, as is Holly's. And that leads to more problems as they try and navigate this new relationship in which they find themselves.

Creighton definitely proves himself when he immediately comes after Holly and decides to stay with her while she's on tour. It gives him a front row seat as to what it's like to be her. And, I think it was the best thing for both of them. I don't think Creighton fully understood her or her life, or really had any intention to. He is a hard worker, but he didn't know how hard Holly worked too. Or how talented she was. And, once he had this knowledge firsthand, it caused him to look at her in a new light.

The problem is, neither Holly nor Creighton are good with using their words to communicate. Oh, they definitely know how to use their bodies. They are very, very good at that. But words - they definitely need some help with that. Neither of them feel so inclined to tell the other how they have grown to feel about one another, and that made me absolutely CRAZY.

"Things change, Holly. And everything has changed for me because of you. If you haven't figured that out yet, then I'll just have to show you."

Creighton may still be overbearing and controlling at times, but in Dirty Pleasures, we see a much softer side of him. I absolutely loved Creighton in this one. And, more than once, I was really irritated with Holly for not giving him more of a break. I understand why she still doesn't trust his motives, but that doesn't make her disbelief of them any easier to take.

Like Dirty Billionaire, Dirty Pleasures leaves you hanging at the end, wondering how Holly and Creighton can make it out of this mess still together in the end. So, be prepared for that, but know that the last part of this awesome story is right around the corner, so you won't have to wait long for, what I'm positive will be, an epic satisfying finish.

(Synopsis) I've got a big dick and an even bigger bank account. That's pretty much where my bio ends. Honestly, I don't need to say anything else. I've just sold 99% of women on going home with me.

Do I sound like an asshole to you?

That's because I am.

And guess what? It works for me just fine.

Or at least it did.

Until I met her.

Books talk about sparks flying. Fuck that shit. With her, it was like emergency flares mixed with jet fuel. Or maybe just straight up napalm.

Only one problem.

She didn't leave her name or number when she disappeared from the hotel room after the hottest fucking night of my life. Now I've had a taste of unicorn pussy—the sweetest, rarest of all pussy—and I need it again.

So what's an asshole to do?

I took this problem to the street. A missed connection gone viral.

And when I find her? I'm keeping her.

Dirty Billionaire was an exceptional beginning to this trilogy about a very unlikely pairing of two people who needed each other for different reasons. I definitely think they need each other, but not for the reasons that they think.

Creighton Karas is a billionaire that is surrounded by people, and yet is still lonely. On Christmas Eve, he decides to seek solace in a one-night stand that he picks up in a hotel bar. He assumed that the woman he chose would be hot, yet vapid. He didn't count on running into a beautiful young woman who looked nothing like his usual conquests.

Holly Wix won a recording contract in a televised country singing competition. All her dreams should be coming true, except her label has shackled her with a washed up country star who can't keep it in his pants. As low woman on the totem pole, her options are limited, so she's forced to have the public think she's dating this womanizing loser. Intent on drowning her sorrows in her beer on Christmas Eve, she wasn't opposed to taking a man to her room, but she was definitely not counting on Creighton Karas.

Initially, I was afraid that Holly would be a doormat when it came to Creighton, and I didn't want that for her. I felt so badly for the situation in which she found herself with her record label - mostly because she couldn't take charge of the situation. They had her by the lady balls, and that sucked so much. So, at least in one area of her life, I wanted to see her be in charge, and thankfully even Creighton's beautiful body and billions of dollars didn't compromise who Holly was.

I liked that Creighton realized right away that Holly was very different from who he was used to. I also loved how he sought her out after waking up alone and realizing he didn't even get her name. The man is determined and resourceful, I'll give him that. And, once they find each other again, they realize that they can help each other out. Their relationship can be mutually beneficial, and I'm not talking about just between the sheets. But, seriously - what an added bonus. Because Creighton very clearly knows what he's doing in that area.

Major props to Holly as she tries desperately to keep her head on straight in the face of the tornado that is Creighton Karas. He is so used to handling everyone and everything that it's hard for him to step back and give Holly some space. And this is something she desperately needs in order to feel like she's in charge of her life and career. It's something that takes some couples years to master, and they are only together a few weeks before things start to crumble to bits.

Dirty Billionaire ends on a bit of a cliffhanger. But, it's okay since book 2 in the trilogy comes out on December 29. It's a pretty short read - I finished it in a few hours. But, I enjoyed it immensely and can't wait to see what happens next between this simple country girl and rich city boy.

COUNTRY STAR JC HUGHES CAUGHT BETWEEN A COCK AND A HARD PLACE

How is he going to explain this one away to girlfriend Holly Wix and his fans?

“That two-timin’ son of a . . .”

I hiss under my breath as I stare at the headline—and the compromising picture accompanying it—splashed in vivid color across the front page of the gossip rag displayed prominently in the checkout line at my supermarket. For the second time in two months, it’s a picture of my “boyfriend” locked in an unmistakably passionate embrace with another woman, except this time she’s wearing a giant black strap-on.

The edges of the paper crumple in my sweaty grip, and I fight the urge to tear it to shreds, along with every copy sitting on the rack in front of me.

He’s going to destroy my career before it even has a chance to become a reality.

One year, they said. One year in this joke of a “relationship” and I’d earn my stripes, be all set in the world of country music. Judge me all you want for agreeing, but when your brand-new record label puts something like that in the contract that will jet you out of the backwoods town you’re dying to escape, you don’t ask questions. You sign on the dotted line.

But reality is a cold slap in the face, and some days it hits you when you’re standing in line at the grocery store. What happens when they finally catch JC with a guy? His habit of swinging both ways, but preferring men to women, is about to become the worst-kept secret in Nashville.

I’m Holly Wix, winner of a make-me-a-star TV show, and handpicked by the label to buoy JC’s once-impressive but now flagging career. It didn’t seem like a big deal when they slipped it into my contract in the beginning. What starry-eyed girl wouldn’t be thrilled to have her name linked to a country star?

Instead of the one-way ticket to stardom I naively expected, I’m becoming the butt of every industry joke faster than the guys back home can spend their paycheck on twelve-packs and scratch-offs. But I’ve got one shot at keeping this dream career alive, and honestly, there’s nothing I wouldn’t do to save it. So this situation with JC needs to get settled before things spiral further out of control.
