How many times in romance books have we seen bets blow up in the faces of those who make them? And, certainly, in this case, the bet definitely doesn't go as planned. However, in this case, the bet going awry was exactly what Wes and Natalie needed to catapult them from the friend zone and plant them squarely in lovers lane. 

Natalie and Wes are both realtors in a competitive luxury housing market. Natalie has made great strides as the new kid on the block. She's been busting her hump to try and convince her brother and Wes that they made a mistake when they decided not to hire her at their realty firm. Wes is still, however, one of the biggest fish in the sea, so when he challenges Natalie to a bet - first one to sell a high-priced luxury home wins - he knew her competitive nature wouldn't allow her to back down. 

The results of the bet put them in each other's immediate orbit. This is both a curse and a coup for Wes. He's lusted after Natalie for years, but as his BFF's little sister, she was always off the market to him. Now he gets to see her much more frequently, and it's not long before he can't help but give in to temptation. 

Really, Wes should've given himself a break. Because Natalie's had the same feelings as he for even longer. And she sees this as an opportunity to finally get Wes to notice her as more than Connor's little sister. And she pulls out all the stops. I really loved Natalie's character. She could've been all swoony and stupid when Wes started showing her extra affection. But, that's not her. She's driven and ambitious and smart. She approaches problems from a calculating angle and attacks them with vicious skill and wit. She goes after what she wants, even though she knows it may not work out for her in the end. 

Big Shot was a quick, light and easy read. There's not a ton of angst or drama. There's some super hot scenes between Wes and Natalie, which only made their chemistry even better. Big Shot is told in dual POV, so we get both Wes' and Natalie's perspective on their situation. I laughed a lot while reading this book, which always makes things even more fun. I also enjoyed getting to know all of Wes' friends and co-workers, who will, I presume, be the other book boyfriends in this series. We've only scratched the surface with most of them, and I'm dying to know more.

Dirty Sexy Saint is my kind of book. It's exactly what I was looking for when I went searching for a new audiobook - it was a super quick read/listen because the story grabbed me from the very beginning. The emotionally unavailable bad boy paired with the good little rich girl is a ship that is always one of my favorites. And it was crazy hot and sexy, as one would expect from Carly Phillips and Erika Wilde. 

Clay "Saint" Kincaid has lived his whole life shouldering the "bad boy from the wrong side of the tracks" image just because his childhood was less than happy. Now, he's older and owns his own bar and has a propensity for helping people in need - hence, the nickname. And, after Samantha Jamieson shows up in Kincaid's after getting cut off completely from her filthy rich family, she's definitely one of those people in need. 

I loved Clay's conflicted persona. He's drawn to Samantha in a big way. But he doesn't WANT to be drawn to her. He fancies himself a dark individual with certain sexual proclivities that someone sweet and unsoiled like Samantha doesn't deserve to be touched by. 

How many times have we seen this? A dark and dirty man thinks certain types of girls either can't handle them or would be horrified by them if they saw their true colors. Why, oh why don't these men stop trying to be "good guys" and just go with it? Because, they might find out that their extra randy side is just what the girl they've set their sights on really needs. 

Clay's kinks aren't the only thing standing in the way of him allowing himself to think that he's worthy of Samantha. His rough and sketchy past might be the biggest hurdle he needs to overcome, and it won't be easy to combat those demons fast enough to prevent Samantha from moving on to live the free and independent life she so desperately craves. 

I love Sophie Eastlake's narration. She does a lot of Carly Phillips' books, and she's really fantastic. For me, the real test of an audiobook narrator is how they do the voices of the opposite sex. Do they sound real, or do they sound like a bad impersonation. Sophie Eastlake's male voices are so well done. Her interpretation of Clay and his two brothers was believable, and it kept me involved and engrossed in the story. I've already added the other books in this series to my Audible wishlist. I'm especially looking forward to Clay's brothers' HEAs.
