Krista's Dust Jacket: 2016 audiobook challenge

I look back over my list of audiobooks that I listened to in 2016, and think it's a pretty awesome list of book. There were some duds in the bunch, but overall I think I've done pretty well picking out books that I know I'll like, especially when I recognize a narrator that I've listened to and liked before.

Some of my absolute favorites for the year include Ride Steady by Kristen Ashley, Appealed by Emma Chase, Never Seduce a Scot by Maya Banks and Royally Screwed by Emma Chase.

I discovered that I really hate it when a narrator is changed part way through a series. This happened with Kristen Ashley's Chaos series and with J.D. Tyler's Alpha Pack series. In both cases, I loved the original narrator chosen and got used to her pronunciations and inflection and style. So, when a different narrator is brought in later in the series, it's harder to appreciate that person's performance, which is unfortunate.

So there you have it! This year is a wrap, and I'm already looking forward to the new audiobooks to discover in 2017.

Well. It certainly seems as if I underestimated my audiobook listening abilities just a bit. LOL. The good thing is, my newfound desire to try and get in 10,000 steps every day has given me more opportunities to squeeze in some listening time. 40. Never Seduce a Scot (The Montgomerys and the Armstrongs #1), by Maya Banks (now listening)

I have decided that Kirsten Potter is one of the best audiobook narrators I've ever had the pleasure of listening to. She narrated the first few books in the Alpha Pack series, but they switched her out after the third book. Which sucks, because she was perfect. I was delighted to find out she narrates Maya Banks' The Montgomerys and Armstrongs series, and I'm currently so taken with this book, I can't get enough of it. Her Scottish accents are so perfect. And this story is fantastic.

So, what have you been listening to lately?

2016 Audiobook Challenge - Quarter 2 Wrap-Up

Welcome to my quarter 2 Audiobook Challenge update. For 2016, I'm challenging myself to listen to a lot of audiobooks, but based on my performance so far, it doesn't look like it's going to be a problem for me....

My Precious (I had my earbuds surgically implanted): 30-50 audiobooks

I wanted to listen to more paranormal books in 2016, so I tried to keep that in mind when making my Audible selections this quarter. I seem to be on a shifter bender right now - nothing wrong with hot werewolves burning up my ears, right? They're actually my very favorite sort of PNR books, so it's been a fun quarter.

I find myself binging on series that I like, too. I ran right through Carrie Ann Ryan's Montgomery Ink series, and now I'm working on J.D. Tyler's Alpha Pack series. Here's my list so far...
Quarter 1
1. Ride Steady (Chaos #3), by Kristen Ashley
2. Beneath This Mask (Beneath #1), by Meghan March

10. Master of the Mountain (Mountain Masters & Dark Haven #1), by Cherise Sinclair

2016 Audiobook Challenge - Quarter One Wrap-up

I've had so much fun participating in the yearly audiobook challenges organized by The Book Nympho and Hot Listens, that of course I had to do it again in 2016! Given my better-than-expected performance last year, I chose to challenge myself with the next level up this year. So, in 2016, I am aiming for...

My Precious (I had my earbuds surgically implanted): 30-50 audiobooks

I'd like to challenge myself this year to listen to more paranormal and YA. When I first started getting into audiobooks, those were the only two genres I listened to. In fact, I still remember what my very first audiobook was - Evermore by Alyson Noel. Since then, though, I've sort of fallen into a romance rut. Not that I don't enjoy my romance audiobooks - obviously I do, otherwise I wouldn't listen to so many of them. But, I would like to branch out this year to rediscover my first loves.

Thanks to several long road trips for various reasons in the first quarter of 2016, I'm off to an awesome start. I've listened to 10 audiobooks, so if I stay on this course, I'll more than achieve my goal.

1. Ride Steady (Chaos #3), by Kristen Ashley
2. Beneath This Mask (Beneath #1), by Meghan March
3. Screwed (Screwed #1), by Kendall Ryan
4. Caressed By Ice (Psy-Changeling #3), by Nalini Singh
5. Fading (Fading #1), by E.K. Blair
6. Forever With Me (With Me In Seattle #8), by Kristen Proby
7. Appealed (The Legal Briefs #3), by Emma Chase
8. Seducing Lauren (Love Under the Big Sky #2), by Kristen Proby
9. Love Hurts (Caged Love #1), by Mandi Beck
10. Master of the Mountain (Mountain Masters & Dark Haven #1), by Cherise Sinclair
11. Cocky Bastard, by Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward
