(Synopsis) Overtime has never felt so good…

Marin Rush loves studying sex. Doing it? That’s another story. In the research lab, Marin’s lack of practical knowledge didn’t matter, but now that she’s landed a job at The Grove, a high-end, experimental sex therapy institute, she can’t ignore the fact that the person most in need of sexual healing may be her.

Dr. Donovan West, her new hotshot colleague, couldn’t agree more. Donovan knows that Marin’s clients are going to eat her alive unless she gets some hands-on experience. And if she fails at the job, he can say goodbye to a promotion, so he assigns her a list of R-rated tasks to prepare her for the wild clientele of The Grove’s X-wing.

But some of those tasks are built for two, and when he finds Marin searching for a candidate to help her check off her list, Donovan decides there’s only one man for the job—him. As long as they keep their erotic, off-the-clock activities strictly confidential and without strings, no one will get fired—or worse, get attached…

Roni Loren tells the best stories. I mean, a sex therapist who doesn't have sex and can't talk about sex without blushing - only Roni Loren could come up with this character. Even more perfect - this no-sex therapist ends up hooking up with a-lot-of-sex therapist. Like I said - perfect.

I really loved how Marin and Donovan's story starts in the past. It really was a good way to paint the backstory and set the stage for what was to come several years later. Their story wouldn't have been quite as interesting if they didn't have history. And their history is fun and personal and sexy.

Marin is an interesting character. She's incredibly intelligent, having got her doctorate in sex therapy. But, Marin has always been more interested in the clinical research instead of the personal therapy side of the field. It's not until she's forced to take a plumb job as a sex therapist in order to make ends meet and care for her teenage brother that she has to admit that she's not good at this part of her job.

Marin is not a people person, which makes her new job as a sex therapist to the rich and famous considerably difficult. She blushes every time someone talks about sex. She has very little personal experience with sex, so she doesn't even have that to help her. That is, until she realizes that the man responsible for mentoring her is the one man that she does have experience with.

But, Donovan doesn't remember her at first, which stings, but once he realizes who she is and why she's there, he makes it his job to teach her everything she needs to know in order to be good at her job. Oh the hardship, right? And, Donovan takes it very seriously.

I really liked Donovan. I liked his cockiness and his confidence in his abilities to do his job. Self-assurance is incredibly sexy. But, so is vulnerability, and when the fact that he is carrying on a relationship with his colleague comes to light, along with the fact that real feelings may be involved, Donovan shows vulnerability in the best ways possible.

I really liked Off the Clock. It was smart and sexy and funny at times. Donovan was hot and so awesome. And Marin, although I didn't quite get her at times, really showed a lot of growth throughout the book. I'm really looking forward to more books in this series.
