(From Goodreads) To want what you’re not supposed to have…
She is only nineteen.
She is his new stepfather’s daughter.
She is still naïve and innocent due to spending the last three years taking care of her sick mother.
But for twenty-four year old Rush Finlay, she is the only thing that has ever been off limits. His famous father’s guilt money, his mother’s desperation to win his love, and his charm are the three reasons he has never been told no.
Blaire Wynn left her small farmhouse in Alabama, after her mother passed away, to move in with her father and his new wife in their sprawling beach house along the Florida gulf coast. She isn’t prepared for the lifestyle change and she knows she’ll never fit into this world. Then there is her sexy stepbrother who her father leaves her with for the summer while he runs off to Paris with his wife. Rush is as spoiled as he is gorgeous. He is also getting under her skin. She knows he is anything but good for her and that he’ll never be faithful to anyone. He is jaded and has secrets Blaire knows she may never uncover but even knowing all of that…
Blaire just may have fallen too far.
I decided it was a bit blasphemous for me to declare my love for the new adult genre when I hadn't ever read an Abbi Glines book. I know - crazy, right? Well, you'll be happy to know that this situation has now been rectified.
In Fallen Too Far, Blaire Wynn goes to her absentee father for help after her mother passes away and she has nowhere else to go. When she arrives, however, she finds daddy dearest off on holiday and her womanizing step brother, Rush, is less than thrilled to see her. Like a female blond Harry Potter, Rush puts her in a room under the stairs until her father gets home and can sort out the mess. Only problem is, Rush starts to get to know her, and he likes what he sees.
I will say one thing about Abbi Glines. She sure can suck you in. From the get-go, I was engaged and intrigued. Glines creates her characters with an air of mystery around them. We know something is up with them, but not what it is. Blaire seems like such a good girl who has had a crap life so far. Rush seems like such a douche with an even douchier group of friends. Yet, you just have this nagging feeling from the beginning that that's not the whole story for either of them.
And, of course, it's not. It doesn't take long for Rush to show his true colors and that's when the story gets really good. The romance between he and Blaire heats up really quickly, and boy, is it good. However, Blaire's mental musings end up getting in the way of their HEA, and then, in true NA fashion, everything goes to crap.
It was at this point that Blaire got on every last nerve I had. When all the secrets came out and everything was revealed for what it was, Blair acted in a manner that was so over the top, it frustrated me to no end. It almost seemed unbelievable that someone could go that far off the reservation for what was really going on.
All that being what it was, I finished this book in 7 hours flat. And when it was done, and I reached the big cliffhanger, I immediately purchased Never Too Far (Too Far #2) so that I could find out what came next.
I have been making eyes with this book on my kindle for weeks now. I have read great reviews for it, maybe it's time just take the plunge and read it!
